The Bucyrus Board of Zoning Appeals met in session Tuesday to take care of new business as well as a project that had been put on hold.

The Board of Zoning Appeals approved the request for a sign measuring two feet by three and a half feet running perpendicular with Poplar Street at the Real Living Generations Realty building in Bucyrus.

Bucyrus Planning and Zoning Administrator John Rostash commented during the hearing that the location was originally zoned as a General Business District; however it has since been rezoned as a Neighborhood Business District.

Roshtash also mentioned that the previous owner of the building had applied for a free standing sign, and was approved, but the application had since expired.

The area variance in which Donald Skaggs had requested in order to construct a new front porch onto his home was approved at Tuesday afternoon’s meeting. The vote had been put on hold during the November meeting so that enough members of the Board of Zoning Appeals could vote on the matter.
