BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) held its 99th Annual Dinner and Awards Presentation at The Loft at Pickwick Place on November 13, 2024, celebrating the contributions of local businesses to the community.

This year’s prestigious Business of the Year award was presented to Pickwick Place, a beloved destination that has become integral to the Bucyrus community. The award was announced by Mel Miller of the North Central Ohio Media Group and Reva Davis of Reva Davis Photography, who emphasized the importance of local businesses in fostering community spirit.

“Businesses are the lifeblood of our communities, and Bucyrus is fortunate to have so many business-minded individuals who place community at the heart of their endeavors,” Miller remarked. “We are honored to recognize the inspiring stories behind the businesses we all know and love.”

The Bucyrus Business of the Year Award aims to acknowledge a business that significantly contributes to economic growth and enhances the quality of life within the community while promoting a sense of cooperation among local enterprises.

This year’s recipient, Pickwick Place, stands out for its remarkable vision and deep agricultural roots. Originally three dilapidated brick barns on the site of the former Chuck-Walt Farmer, later known as Pickwick Farms, the venue has been transformed by the Stuckeys, Hartschuhs, and Schimpfs into a welcoming space for locals and visitors alike.

From the Market to The Loft, The Stalls, and now The Café, each area of Pickwick Place reflects the love and dedication that has gone into creating a vibrant gathering spot for the community. The property beautifully blends the history of the old farm with innovative ideas for the future, resonating with both nostalgia and connection to Bucyrus.

In addition to its role as a community hub, Pickwick Place actively engages in community giving, partnering with various initiatives to help drive Bucyrus forward.

“It is our pleasure to present the 2024 Business of the Year Award to Pickwick Place,” concluded Miller, highlighting the establishment’s significant impact on the local community.
