BUCYRUS—Bucyrus Area Chamber Director, Jessie Furner, will be stepping down as of July 1. She was hired in 2019 and led the organization through the pandemic while adding over 100 members and implemented many positive changes during her tenure. This included launching a successful annual sponsorship method and initiating the Chamber’s Ambassador program.
In addition, Furner supported efforts like the soon-to-be Downtown Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA), established office hours in New Washington, and created a robust calendar of events including new and past programs.
“This was a very difficult decision that I did not make lightly,” said Furner. “I am choosing to make my family and finishing my degree top priorities, as they always were, but now I will have the time and energy to be more present.”
Furner will continue to offer her support in different ways to the Chamber, tourism, and will remain involved with the boards she currently serves.
“I genuinely love Bucyrus and Crawford County,” shared Furner. “It’s been incredible to witness and be part of our growing collaborative spirit and to work with other community leaders.”
The Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has already launched a search for the Chamber’s new Director. For those interested in applying the job description can be found on communityopportunity.com.
