With the school year fast approaching, the Buckeye Central Board of Education approved the hiring of new staff during Thursday night’s meeting.
Justin Lau, and Kelly McCarthy were both approved with one year contracts for the school. Lau will teach High School Social Studies, while McCarthy will be sharing her knowledge of Math to the middle school.
Boys Basketball for the Buckeye Central Bucks will have a familiar face returning to the sidelines, as Phil Loy was approved to return as head coach for the 2013-2014 season.
With preliminary report card data being released by the state Buckeye Central will be receiving a B grade for the district. The district as a whole received A’s in indicators met as well as four year graduation rate.
It was announced at the board meeting Thursday that the last of the Community Engagement meetings originally scheduled for September 25, at Buckeye Central has changed to the Chatfield Fire Station at 3550 Chatfield-Center Road. The meeting will still start at the same time of 7 p.m..
The next Community Engagement meeting will be August 14, at 7p.m. in the Buckeye Central Multi-Purpose Room, with Innovation in Education being the main topic.
