NEW WASHINGTON—The Buckeye Central Board of Education held their monthly meeting on Thursday evening.
Superintendent Mark Robinson updated the board on the school’s COVID numbers. There are currently six active student cases, thirty-nine in quarantine, two active staff cases, and three staff members in quarantine. To follow along with the school’s COVID numbers and protocols, follow this link.
The school is looking to hire a SEL (social and emotional learning) coordinator, and it will be an internal position. The position will be a supplemental contract and would be paid for through ESSER funding. The individual will work with the social workers and the guidance counselors on issues seen within the school.
The board approved the hiring of Trina Collene, a second social worker for the district who will be working mainly with the middle school students.
Different items discussed for potential future updates were stadium lights, a lane to the weight room, blacktop for handicapped parking, repainting in the middle school, and a new, larger electronic sign up by the road in front of the school.
The school is looking into the possibility of working with Allerton Hill to create a Google point for their football stadium, so when visiting teams come to play, they will be able to find the stadium easily. Currently, Google will send you to the high school location.
The next meeting is on October 14 at 7 p.m.
