The Bucyrus Tourism and Visitors Bureau is pleased to be the recipient of just over $12,700 awarded from the 2015 Annual Rotary Auctionfest committee. The Tourism Bureau was fortunate to have been chosen as one of three non-profit organizations along with the Crawford County Arts Council and Crawford Council on Aging – Meals Program for this partnership with Bucyrus Rotary.
“Raising this amount of money [over $40k total] was definitely a team effort and each of the 4 organizations are benefitting primarily from the generosity of the businesses and individuals who volunteer, donate, and ‘bid’ on their community during the Auctionfest event” says the new tourism director, Patricia ‘Trish’ Ratliff.
The increased funding will help the Bureau with its’ primary goal of attracting visitors to the community and promoting Bucyrus as an appealing tourist and business destination. Now that the Auctionfest is over, the BTVB will be focusing its attention on its next set of events including the annual BTVB tour on June 17th, and the annual Best “Wurst” Bike Ride which is held during the Bratwurst Festival every year.
“This years’ BTVB tour will highlight attractions countywide, including stops in Crestline, New Washington, Galion, as well as Bucyrus,” says Ratliff. “We’ve expanded the tour because we want to build momentum on the efforts to become a countywide Bureau, plus I think many local residents would enjoy spending the day as a tourist within our own Crawford County.”
