BUCYRUS—If you’re traveling toward Seneca County on St. Rt. 100, you’ll encounter something you might never see elsewhere.
Brutus Buckeye stands 10-12 feet in the carved from solid maple. The tree on the property of Barbara Stuckey is a true labor of love and Ohio State Loyalty.

Chuck Schepflin, a very gifted carver from Fremont, completed the project over the weekend.

When it was discovered that the top of the tree was dead, they decided to save the stump. The tree was more than 100 years old.

Schepflin had to put the Stuckeys on a waiting list. This weekend he took on the stump and beautifully transformed it into the famous mascot, including the paint.

Barbara Stuckey told Crawford County Now that several people are already stopping to see Brutus and taking some selfies too.

The Stuckeys don’t mind. “ If this brings a smile to someone or they enjoy it that’s fine with us,” Stuckey said.
