BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The murder case of Thomas Brown,49, of Bucyrus experienced a delay in the scheduled trial due following a pretrial held in the Crawford County Common Pleas Court. Brown is facing charges of two counts of murder and one count of involuntary manslaughter for allegedly causing the death of Sean Casarro on January 22, 2023.

After a 90-minute pretrial, Judge Sean Leuthold, in agreement with the state and defense, decided to vacate the February trial and set a new trial date.

The reason for this decision is the unavailability of two experts who were supposed to testify, one in Jujitsu and another in strangulation.

However, their reports will be made available to all parties for the purposes of Voir dire and jury instructions.

The defense will have the opportunity to provide their own experts based on these reports. Judge Leuthold expressed frustration but acknowledged that there was no one to blame for the unavailability of witnesses.

A brief telephone pretrial update is scheduled for January 12th, followed by a full pretrial on January 29th to discuss motions, jury instructions, and other matters.

The new trial date will be set during the full pretrial.

Crawford County Now will continue to provide coverage on this developing story.
