UPDATED NEWS RELEASE
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office / METRICH received information that several illegally possessed firearms were moved from the Fisher St., address prior to the execution of the narcotics search warrant on March 28th.
Detectives located 28 firearms at an address is Whetstone Twp., along with body armor and armor piercing bullets. Gary Wayne Gallant is suspected of possessing and removing these firearms from the Fisher St. address. 1 firearm was confirmed to be stolen out of Huron County. Reports will be forwarded to the Crawford County Prosecutor Office for consideration of additional charges.
The original news release indicated another firearm thought to be stolen from California. After further examination, this firearm was not reported stolen

BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—On March 28, 2024, a meticulously coordinated operation involving the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, METRICH, and the Crawford County Special Response Team culminated in the execution of a successful narcotics search warrant at 117 Fisher St. in the City of Bucyrus.
The primary target of this operation was Gary Wayne Gallant, a 53-year-old individual suspected of trafficking in methamphetamines. Gallant was promptly apprehended during the search.

Additionally, Sandra Gallant, aged 60, was also detained on the premises. However, she was subsequently released pending potential charges in the future.
The authorities seized a substantial quantity of methamphetamines, along with drug paraphernalia, cash, and two firearms from the residence. Shockingly, one of the firearms was traced back to a stolen weapon from California.

Gary Wayne Gallant has been transported to the Crawford County Justice Center, where he awaits further legal proceedings.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is diligently preparing a comprehensive report to be submitted to the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for the assessment of potential additional charges related to this operation.
