Nathan Brady still hasn’t had his proverbial day in court on felony one charges of engaging in corrupt activity. That is scheduled for Oct. 31. But the one Brady had Thursday for a hearing on motions was somewhat successful.

Appearing with attorney Joel Spitzer, the 34-year-old Brady from Bucyrus asked for records pertaining to conversations with co-defendants in his drug-related case who are potential witnesses. Spitzer said those witnesses had been told their plea deals might not be upheld if they did not testify against Brady.

While Judge Russell Wiseman granted that motion, it was as far as he went. Spitzer had also asked Wiseman to compel the prosecution to indicate which witnesses against Brady would be called. Wiseman refused that request, but did tell County Prosecutor Matt Crall investigators had a duty to look into possible exculpatory evidence they had been made aware of and give that information to Spitzer.

At Spitzer’s request, Wiseman also reduced Brady’s bond from $500,000 to $75,000 cash or surety over Crall’s objection.

Brady’s wife Connie pleaded guilty to related charges earlier this week and was placed on community control. One charges against her was dismissed as part of that plea deal.
