The Bucyrus Police Department is warning residents of a scam that hit the area.
The police department received a report from a resident on Aug. 10 who received a phone call from a male identifying himself as “Agent Jackson” with the Department of Justice. The resident returned the phone call and was advised by “Agent Jackson” to turn himself in to local authorities.
The police department has verified that this call was a scam. The victim’s phone number was obtained while he was on vacation.
Anyone who receives a suspicious message like the one reported should not return the call and should notify local authorities.
