The Bucyrus Police Department will be hosting a webinar Thursday, April 10, 2014 concerning elder abuse. The webinar will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Safety in the Golden Years is a virtual conference on understanding, addressing, and preventing crimes against seniors.

Elder abuse is an often unrecognized and underreported crime with devastating consequences. That’s why the National Crime Prevention Council and the Bureau of Justice Assistance joined forces to offer this comprehensive one-day, live event to help combat elder abuse.

The webinar will offer:

  • Insight into the signs and symptoms of abuse and the roles and resources of agencies involved in elder abuse prevention
  • Strategies and multi-disciplinary models of response to help tackle elder abuse in your community
  • Tools to build community awareness surrounding elder abuse
  • Ways to identify elder financial crime trends and how to avoid victimization
  • Partnerships and resources for crime victims and how to prevent crime in the first place.

The webinar will take place at Bucyrus City Hall in Council Chambers. The webinar can also be viewed at home by visiting http://engage.vevent.com/index.jsp?eid=2155&seid=268. If your computer or internet feed is not compatible, please attend the webinar at City Hall.
