BUCYRUS—A New Washington woman was taken into custody and had her bond raised in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday.
Shannon Stockmaster, 34, of New Washington, appeared for a pretrial hearing. She had been free after posting a $5000.00 bond. She faces up to 36 months in prison if convicted of tampering with evidence, a felony of the third degree.
After two rejected plea offers in the drug-related case, Assistant Prosecutor Ryan Hoovler asked that Stockmaster be drug tested. Drug tests are routinely performed during court appearances. Probation officer Kylie Sinclair administered the drug test. Stockmaster tested positive for meth, methamphetamines, and THC putting her in clear violation of bond.
Based on the outcome of the test, Hoovler asked that Stockmaster’s bond be raised to $50,000.00. Defense attorney Emily Beckley asked the court to leave her client’s bond in place. She told the court her client had made all required appearances and was a business owner with ties to the community.
Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold called the violation very serious and expressed concern about Stockmaster’s mental state:
“This is a tough decision. We have a serious bond violation with a positive test for methamphetamines, dangerous drugs that are destroying lives in this community.” Leuthold said.
Leuthold ordered Stockmaster’s bond revoked and raised to $25,000.00.
Jamie Lester, 38, of Bucyrus, pleaded guilty to violating the terms and conditions of his community control. According to probation officer Chris Heydinger, Lester quit reporting for office visits in April and had not been seen since his arrest in July.
Judge Leuthold reimposed Lester’s 36-month prison sentence on burglary. He will receive all jail time credit. Leuthold told Lester he would not oppose transitional control if the prison requested it.
David Trummell IV, 51, of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to one count of burglary, a felony of the fourth degree punishable with up to 18 months in prison.
In an agreed plea negotiation, Judge Leuthold sentenced Trummell to five years of community control.
