Below is the original post regarding the bomb threat.

SHELBY – A bomb threat was found in a bathroom stall at Pioneer Career and Technology Center on Friday morning.

According to Pioneer Superintendent Greg Nickoli, a note was reported after being found in a bathroom stall just after 8 a.m.

Nickoli said the students and staff were evacuated to a facility in the Central Ohio Industrial Park near the school’s campus before eventually being released to their home districts.

Pioneer CTC students who rode the bus have been transported back to their home districts and students who have access to their keys have been given permission to retrieve their vehicles and leave the campus.

“I would like to compliment the students and staff on the speed and orderly process of evacuating the building,” Nickoli said.

Shelby Police and Fire departments and troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol on the scene barricaded the access road to the campus and assisted in an initial sweep of the building after the initial evacuation.

Specialized crews and K-9 units were called to continue the sweep of the facilities.

Nickoli said the travel distance has caused some of the delay. He also said due to the size and unique layout of the building, the search could take a few hours to complete once began.

Nickoli added that recent renovations have assisted in the lockdown of the building.

He said once the scene is cleared, he expects school to reopen as usual Monday.

Nickoli said he wants parents and students to know, that when it is safe to do so, an all-call phone message will be sent out for students to return to collect items needed for the weekend.

Law enforcement asks that no one attempts to access the campus until informed they are able to do so.
