The Bucyrus City Schools Board of Education presented the Marion-Crawford Prevention Programs with a Board Commendation for the work they do with students at both the Secondary and Elementary buildings. This commendation comes as the two groups have enjoyed a longtime partnership that has significantly strengthened in the past five years.

Cindy Clouner spearheads the Crawford County side of the organization. She and her staff work diligently to provide programming that helps students increase self-esteem and educate them in making healthy life choices.

“There is a big focus on teaching our students how to have strong refusal skills when it comes to drugs and alcohol,” Bucyrus Student Advocate Beth Constantine said. “The Marion-Crawford Prevention Programs also sponsor drug and alcohol-free social events for our students.”

In addition to these activities, Clouner coordinates the “Prime for Life” program. It is the drug and alcohol education component presented to a student if they test positive for drugs and/or alcohol in the district’s drug testing program.

“Cindy and her team provide programming not only at both of our school buildings, but also at our After-School program at the Elementary School on a regular basis,” Constantine said. “Through these programs, and the tireless work of Cindy and her team, our students are able to gain accurate information about drugs and alcohol. We are very grateful and appreciative for all their efforts to help our students.”
