BUCYRUS — Precincts opened this morning for the 2019 General Election and will remain open until 7:30 p.m.

Ruth Leuthold, director of the Crawford County Board of Elections, is predicting only 34 percent of registered voters across the county will cast a ballot.

“That is the same percentage of people who voted two years and I predict it will be about the same,” Leuthold said. “I hope to be proved wrong and more people will vote.”

She said more people than usual have cast a ballot during early voting, which ended yesterday afternoon in-office voting.

“There were 1,255 of ballots cast in-office or mailed out during early voting,” Leuthold said.

She said more people voted in-office than requested ballots to be mailed to them.

“The ballots by mail had to be postmarked by noon on Monday to be able to be counted in the official count,” Leuthold said.

Leuthold said when residents head to the polls today, they will need a form of identification.

“The best forms are a driver’s license or state ID,” Leuthold said.

Crawford County Now will have up-to-date results from the election posted throughout the evening.
