BUCYRUS―Excitement about the future of Wynford filled the room during the Board of Education meeting Thursday evening.
The board members discussed how well the groundbreaking ceremony went, in spite of windy conditions and the threat of rain.
Board member Rhonda Rowland showed other board members the time capsule that will be placed near the entrance of the new school once it is completed in the fall of 2020. Rowland said she managed to fill the capsule completely with memorabilia. It is to be opened in 50 years.
Rowland announced that this will be her last year on the school board and said she is grateful to have served on the board that was able to put plans for the new building in motion.
The board accepted the resignation of High School Principal Chris Solis as he moves on to Tri-Rivers to become the building principal.
When asked about how he felt on his time at Wynford, Solis said, “I have been truly blessed to work with some great people and I want to thank them for making Wynford a great place.”
The board is sad to see him go but wish him the best of luck in future endeavors. A three-year contract was approved for Julie Miller as the new high school principal.
