NEW WASHINGTON — Preparing for the next school year was the focus of the Buckeye Central Board of Education meeting Thursday night.

The board approved two College Credit Plus agreements—one with Bowling Green State University and the other with North Central State College for the 2020-21 school year.

Board members also approved the first reading on some adoptions/revisions of board policy, including items such as gifted education and identification, drug and alcohol testing of CDL license holders and other employees who perform safety-sensitive functions, graduation requirements, and students at-risk of not qualifying for a high school diploma.

Kindergarten registration is April 14 and 21 and the information on that will be sent to the public soon.

Preschool registration forms have been sent out and are due back to the district March 5. Registration is open to in-district families first. The number of registration forms received will help administrators get a general idea as to how many new staff members will need hired, and the job posting for preschool teachers will be up soon.

Superintendent Mark Robinson informed the board that the preschool/kindergarten and STEAM Lab construction project is going well and on schedule.

The board’s next meeting is March 12 at 7 p.m.
