While the South of the Square Block Rally showed off that portion of the Bucyrus business district and allowed shoppers to lunch outdoors, the real beneficiary was the Crawford Park District support group.

The 29 businesses that participated in the rally June 26 were able to present a check for $2,500 to Friends of the Crawford Park District that represented proceeds from donations collected that day.

The stated mission of the Friends of the Crawford Park District is to “create, preserve, protect, and manage the system of parks, nature preserves and outdoor recreational facilities held in public ownership by the citizens of Crawford County.”
