It took three county fire departments to subdue a duplex fire in the 400 block of Cherry Street in Galion Tuesday afternoon.

Fire departments from Galion, Crestline, and Bucyrus were all called to help subdue the wind-driven blaze at 422 Cherry Street.

Two people were in the house at the time of the fire and were able to escape. One person was transported to Galion Community Hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation and later released.

The Cherry Street residence was a duplex with one side being a total loss, while the other side suffered smoke and water damage.

The fire is believed to have started in the living room of the residence, however the Galion Fire Department will wait until Wednesday morning to do further investigation.

The duplex is owned by Chuck Miller.
