BUCYRUS — After decades of calling the Crawford County Conservation League home, bingo with the Humane Society Serving Crawford County is making a change of scenery.

During its 30-year anniversary, the humane society weekly bingo game will call Pickwick Place home.

The new location will have its inaugural game during a Fabulous Friday event Jan. 4.

The cost is $40 which includes a catered meal and a player cards for the evening. Prizes also will be given throughout the evening.

Doors open to the public at 4 p.m. and dinner is served is at 5 p.m.

“We hope the change in venue brings some new players and other positive changes to the event,” said Victoria Caldwell, director of the Humane Society Serving Crawford County.

Caldwell said the revenue from the bingo games accounts for approximately two-thirds of the society’s operating budget.

“Bingo changed when they brought casinos into the state and it hurt a lot of organizations’ games,” Caldwell said. “But we’ve been lucky with such loyal players and hope to bring in more with the location change.”

She said things like adoptions and other services would be more expensive or less readily available if it weren’t for the bingo revenue.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years,” Caldwell said. “But we are so fortunate to have a game that’s been so successful.”

Regular Wednesday games begin at Pickwick Place Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
