MARION—Students, staff and alumni at The Ohio State University Columbus campus will gather later this month to pack 200,000 meals to be delivered in Allen, Hardin and Marion Counties on Thursday, September 28. (see schedule below).
The food will be delivered to Ohio State regional campuses in Marion and Lima via the official Ohio State Football equipment truck owned by Ken Blair. OSU Extension is organizing the distribution of the assembled meals to local non-profit organizations in that area. Meals for Hardin County organizations will be distributed at the Hardin County Fairgrounds.
Representatives from the regional campuses, the Office of Student Life, OSU Extension and the Alumni Association, as well as the non-profits involved, will be available for interviews as the truck is unloaded at each location.
Nearly 600 people were involved in the packing effort on the Columbus campus.
The program is a collaboration among Ohio State Student Life, Athletics, OSU Extension, the Chief Wellness Officer and the Alumni Association. Grant funding provided by Coca-Cola and the 9-11 Day.org Foundation.
