CRESTLINE- Communication was one of the main topics discussed during the Crestline School Board of Education meeting on Tuesday evening.

Board member Mindy Sipes expressed her concern with the school’s lack of communication. She said that as a board member and a parent of a student in the district, it is frustrating how little communication there is between the school and the community.

“Colonel Crawford almost overshares information using their phone systems, and that is something I would rather have—I would rather have an oversharing of information versus a lack thereof,” Sipes said. “At the beginning of the message going out at Crawford, it will say what grade level the information is for so that if you don’t have a student in that grade, you can stop listening.”

Board president Jeffrey Wilhite said that he would be willing to implement a system for better communication between the school and parents.

The district currently has a form of a communication system but is attempting to find a balance between sharing too much information and sharing not enough. There are concerns that if too much information is shared, no one will listen to the messages going out.

The board accepted the resignation of High School Principal Jamie Masi as he moves on to the Lexington School District. The job position has been posted along with a high school Spanish teaching job.

The next board meeting will be July 9 at 7 p.m.
