GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Ladies and gentlemen, ensure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright positions and your seat belts are securely fastened. Galion Community Theatre (GCT) invites you on a trip through time to London, England, circa 1590, to visit The Globe Theatre, where both enthusiasts and critics of William Shakespeare’s catalog of plays are sure to delight in GCT’s presentation of The Complete Works Of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again], directed by Rachel Jarvis and set to take place Feb. 14-15 and 21-23.

“People tend to be intimidated by the works of Shakespeare, so I like that this show creates the opportunity to show people how silly a lot of it really is,” said Rachel Jarvis, the show’s director. “You certainly don’t need to be an expert in iambic pentameter to enjoy this production.”

Three Actors Give Their All

From Romeo and Juliet to Hamlet and everything in between, actors Tyler Burford, Brett Lucas, and Gavin Horn set to work bringing the classical literature to life while adorning colorful tights and really short shorts.

“I am very proud of our small cast. The show has a lot of dialogue to memorize, not to mention most of it is pulled straight from Shakespeare’s works. Speaking in iambic pentameter while wearing clown noses, playing football, and dumping buckets of water on yourself is no small feat,” Jarvis said. “It’s worth the ticket price just to see how the actors manage to keep everything straight!”

Sponsored by Crossroads Family of Companies with contributions from GBL Bank, The Complete Works Of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again], written in 2022, is an even newer take on the original show that set to work to distill all 37 Shakespeare plays—boiled down to 97 minutes of prose and comical interpretations.

According to Jarvis, there are lots of moments in the show that rely on the audience’s participation, meaning the energy in the crowd will help dictate the direction of the play. This also means that each performance is likely to be slightly different than it was the night before.
