On Saturday Feb. 22, the Buckeye Central FFA held their annual pulled pork dinner.
Over 350 people enjoyed a delicious meal served by FFA members. Buckeye Central FFA advisor, Tyler Pope said, “This was the best turnout in recent memory.”
As part of the evening entertainment, the urban soil judging team, made up of senior Sam Robertson, junior Ray Stall, and sophomores Derek Kalb and Jarret Shook, took turns auctioning off homemade pies that they had made. The pies varied from apple to pecan, and strawberry to “possum pie.”
The money raised from the auction will go towards their trip to Oklahoma City for the National Soil Judging contest in early May.
The team raised over $2,000 from the pie auction thanks to the generosity of the following buyers:
Rietschlin Electric, Ron and Lisa McGinnis, Brian Kalb, Roger Marquart, Roger Auck, Fike’s Fur Shop, Ackerman Farms, Geissman Farms, Don Phenice, Joe and Phyllis Shook, Cruise in Car Wash Bucyrus, Owen Diesch, Roger Daniel, Central Ohio Farmers Co-op Monnet, Shook Farm and Industrial Repair, Bob Taylor, Niese Farms, Sarah Kalb, and Ag Credit of Bucyrus.
The FFA would like to thank all those who came out and supported the program.
