A barn on Albaugh Road is salvageable thanks to the efforts of firefighters from six different departments early Monday morning.

A call came in to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office at 6:41 about the fire at 2648 Albaugh Road. Volunteer fire departments from Chatfield, Holmes and Lykens townships responded and they received mutual aid from firefighters in Bloom Township and the Scipio-Republic Fire Department as well as the Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department.

The fire was in a barn that is used as a swine nursery barn, but was not being used at the time of the fire. The fire was reportedly started by a malfunctioning heater.
