Baker’s Pizza and Maria Winemiller have had a long relationship comprised of pizza and local sports photos. Now that relationship is being extended into a helping hand.
On Monday, Sept. 14, Baker’s will be holding a Dine and Donate event to benefit Maria’s husband Lance, who was diagnosed a few years ago with Castlemans-Pemphigus Paraneoplastic. Baker’s will donate 10 percent of its entire day’s sales to help the Winemiller’s with their medical expenses.
“Lance has always been a great father and husband,” Baker’s wrote in a post on Facebook page, “he has always been there to support his family in their life ventures.”
Castlemans-Pemphigus Paraneoplastic is a rare disease. Since being diagnosed in 2013, Lance has been in and out of the hospitals in Bucyrus and Columbus. Lance’s latest stint in the hospital has lasted over a month.
“There is so much I could say and it’s nice to live in a community of caring people willing to help,” Maria said. “We take it day by day and it scares me to know that one day he may not be here with us, but I keep praying and hoping that he will be one of God’s miracles.”
“Baker’s has helped many in the community and we are grateful that Baker’s will be helping Lance through this tough ordeal,” she added.
