GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—In recognition of Hospice and Palliative Care Month and its 35th year of hospice care, Avita Home Health and Hospice has launched a blanket and yarn drive to provide handmade comfort items to new hospice patients. has launched a blanket and yarn drive throughout November to ensure every new hospice patient receives a handmade comfort blanket filled with warmth and compassion.

The drive, titled “Blanket & Yarn Drive,” is being held in honor of Hospice and Palliative Care Month, which takes place annually in November. The organization is also celebrating its 35th year of providing hospice care and 40 years of home health care services in the region.

Each new hospice patient at Avita receives a “comfort bag” containing small essentials, highlighted by a special blanket that is lovingly crocheted by talented community volunteers.

Avita Home Health and Hospice is asking community members to contribute in two primary ways: by donating new blankets or by donating extra yarn for the crocheting volunteers. Those who enjoy needlework are also encouraged to share their talent by crafting a blanket themselves.

“Every blanket brings comfort, love, and a sense of peace to those who need it most,” a representative for Avita stated.

Donations can be dropped off at Avita Home Health and Hospice throughout the month of November. The main office for donations is located in Galion, Ohio.
