Avita Health System and Ontario-based Summit Therapy have aligned in an effort to broaden physical, occupational, and speech therapy services for the community. Summit Therapy provides services for all age groups and offers locations in Ontario, Mansfield, and Shelby. All three locations will remain operational.

During the past year, Avita has grown their therapy service lines by adding a new Crestline location and by renovating the Harding Way property in Galion, which is now a state-of-the-art therapy center for pediatric patients.

“Avita’s orthopedic and sports medicine providers have seen a steady increase of patients coming from Richland County and is now the largest group in the area,” comments Jerry Morasko, Avita President/CEO. “To speed recovery, these patients are returning to Avita for therapy, and therefore, it is important to provide the services they need close to home.”

Summit Therapy was established in 2006 and has become one of the premier physical therapy providers in Mid-Ohio. With a staff of 19 dedicated therapists, Summit guides patients through injuries, post-surgical conditions, and injury prevention so they may return to and maintain an active lifestyle at their peak potential. Besides outpatient-based therapies, Summit also provides home health physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Summit Therapy has highly skilled athletic trainers and physical therapists that work one-on-one with athletes, coaches, and parents to assure that appropriate injury prevention and management is achieved.

“Our therapy team has had a great partnership with Avita, and by further aligning our two organizations we can provide even greater benefit for our patients,” comments David Hofstetter, Summit Therapy President/CEO.

Summit Therapy offers a wide-range of services that benefit local athletes, including an athletic training program, on-field coverage, athletic screens within 48 hours of injury, concussion management, preventative and rehabilitative care, and the ACCELERATE program. ACCELERATE is a program designed for the healthy athlete to help prevent common sports injuries and improve physical strength, speed, agility, vertical jump, and endurance.

“The direction Summit is heading with Avita is very promising,” comments Hofstetter. “Not only are we promoting a healthy lifestyle, we are improving the continuity of care, and returning active individuals to work or play.”

Avita also offers physical and occupational therapy programs in Crestline, Galion, and Bucyrus.
