BUCYRUS — Persons indicted by the Crawford County Grand Jury in July were arraigned Monday in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. Defendants were arraigned by video from the Crawford County Jail.
Tessa Perry, 54, of Crestline is charged with one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony punishable with up to 11 years in prison and one count of intimidation, a third-degree felony punishable with up to three years in prison.
According to prosecutor Matt Crall, Perry got into an altercation at a party and threw grease into the face of two victims. One victim was hospitalized for her injuries and died approximately two weeks after her release from the hospital. The other victim is alive. According to Crall, Perry may be charged with murder in the future for the death of the first victim. The prosecutor’s office is awaiting results of an autopsy.
Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Perry. He appointed attorney Brad Starkey to represent him. Bond was increased from $100,000 to $250,000.
Logan Locker, 18, of Bucyrus was indicted on one count of discharging a firearm, a first-degree felony punishable with up to 11 years in prison, one count of discharging a firearm, a second-degree felony punishable with up to eight years in prison and one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony punishable with up to three years in prison.
According to prosecutor Crall, Locker was at a residence with minors when the gun discharged. A female was shot in the jaw, the bullet exited out the back of her head and into a second victim. Logan allegedly left the scene with the gun and the gun has not been found. Crall said it took a few days to locate Locker after the incident.
Leuthold entered a not guilty plea on Logan’s behalf. Attorney Joel Spitzer has been retained to represent Logan. Leuthold set bond at $250,000.
David Kempt, 36, of Marion was indicted on one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony punishable with up to three years in prison. Kempt also has an active case of telecommunications harassment, a fifth-degree punishable with up to one year in prison.
According to allegations, while in jail, Kempt told his brother to delete his Facebook page which contained evidence in his case. Leuthold entered a not guilty plea for Kempt on the new charge. Attorney Spitzer, who was appointed on the first case, was appointed on the new charge as well. Bond was set at $75,000 on the original case. Leuthold added another $25,000 bond on the new charges for a total bond of $100,000.
