LEXINGTON, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A longtime business in town is “on the threshold” of a new era in products and services – windows and doors.

Callahan Door & Window, 35 Industrial Drive, has always been a supplier of garage doors and openers for homes and businesses. But the family firm has expanded its offerings with a wide selection of energy-efficient windows and doors.

“Almost 50-percent of our business now is entryway doors and windows,” said Bob Sayre, owner of Callahan Door & Window. “It’s definitely the part of the business that’s grown the most.”

The company, Sayre said, is an authorized dealer of several well-known brands, including Andersen windows and ProVia windows and doors. They do installations and repairs for customers throughout the North Central Ohio area.

One of the firm’s major selling points, he said, is that installation and service is never subcontracted out to other companies. “All the work we do, we do it all in house. When we do a job, it’s our truck and our employees who are going to show up.”

Sayre said Callahan Door & Window’s showroom features vinyl and wood windows as well as a wide array of front doors, side doors, patio doors, and storm doors. About 75-percent of the product line is manufactured in Ohio, he said.

Sayre, who has more than 30 years of experience in the industry, was hired in 2007 to help oversee the development of the entry door and window side of the operation. He purchased the company in 2013 from its founder, Don Callahan.

Callahan started the business back in 1984, selling garage doors and openers from his home in the early years. Since then, the company has expanded not only with new products and technology but also with an increased workforce.

“We’ve doubled in size since 2010,” said Sayre, whose son, Samuel, and nephew, Noah Creed, have also joined the firm. “It was a slow start but once we started growing it continued. The business has grown tremendously over the last 20 years or so.”

Callahan Door & Window also sells epoxy flooring and a variety of organizational items for homes and garages such as wall panels, overhead storage, plastic bins, and state-of-the-art cabinets to maximize storage space.
