GALION — The Northmor Board of Education met Tuesday evening and discussed the bright beginning of the school year.

Junior/Senior High School Assistant Principal Brendan Gwirtz said the year started out strong on many fronts, not the least of which was Northmor’s first foray into the football postseason. He also reported the volleyball team reached regionals and the girls’ cross country team qualified for state.

Gwirtz continued saying what he was most excited to talk about was the implementation of the Leader in Me leadership program to grades 7 through 12.

On Nov. 7, 16 high school students and three staff members traveled to Heath High School for a day-long Leader in Me summit along with 13 other high schools in Ohio. Gwirtz said it was the first gathering of school districts of its kind in the nation to discuss and share what they are doing with the Leader in Me program.

On November 28, Northmor will be having its first Leader in Me K-12 leadership summit, which Gwirtz noted they will be the first in the state to have one that encompasses all students.
