CRESTLINE—A victim of a brutal assault on October 10th has been moved into hospice care after being declared brain dead.
Michael Benedict of Carey is not expected to recover after three assailants beat him into unconsciousness and beyond. The assault was the aftermath of a confrontation in a Crestline bar.
Jaqueline Montgomery, her husband Timothy Montgomery, and Cameron Davis, all of Crestline, were arraigned in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on felonious assault charges of the second degree, punishable with up to 8 years in prison.

According to Crestline Police Chief Jeff Shook, at this time, there will be no change in the investigation. However, Shook told Crawford County Now that he is waiting to see the outcome of this most recent development.
“We have a contingency plan in place to move forward with this investigation.” Chief Shook said.
Crawford County Now reached out to Crawford County Prosecutor Matt Crall, who indicated there is nothing he can comment on at this time. Calls to the Grant Medical/Trauma Hospital’s Patient Care Support Office were unreturned. Crawford County Now also reached out to the family member who first posted the update on Benedict but has not received any response.

Crawford County Now will continue to follow events as they unfold.
