Staff report and press release
The Crawford County Arts Council is looking to build its membership.
In an effort to socialize, share, and grow its membership, the Crawford County Arts Council (CCAC) is holding a Mardi Gras Party from 7 – 10 p.m. on Feb. 28 at Old 30 BBQ, 1330 E. Mansfield St., Bucyrus. There will be complimentary hors d’oeuvres and artists are encouraged to bring a sample of their work to share. The party will also serve as an open mic night for people to read poetry, sing, or share their art experiences.
The following is a description of CCAC from Arts Council President Beverly Morgan:
“Crawford County Arts Council started out with a vision of how to improve the quality of living for Crawford County residents. In February of 2013 a dedicated group of people started gathering, talking and dreaming of ways to help people find their voice through creative expression. It was their desire to encourage, support and preserve all forms of art, dimensional, theatrical, musical or written. To build a community rich in beauty and culture.
“We started slowly, introducing ourselves at the Bucyrus and Galion farmer’s markets and participating in community events. Soon we were hosting events like Arts in the Park and hanging art shows at the Partnership for Economic and Educational Development, Galion Community Theatre and Bucyrus Public Library.
“At the same time, we undertook the arduous process of establishing the Crawford County Arts Council as a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization that. Our new status has allowed us to be successful in seeking grants and funding to develop programming that is used throughout the county. It will help us to find a home, a space where we can gather, work and grow.”
