The Crawford Park District has rescheduled its popular Arrowhead Day from this weekend to next weekend.

Participants should meet at Lowe-Volk Park at 10 a.m. on April 16. They will then be able to walk nearby farms with members of the Johnny Appleseed Chapter 19 of the Archaeological Society of Ohio to search for flint and stone remnants of prehistoric cultures.

Arrowhead hunters should dress for the weather. Walking sticks and small digging tools may also be helpful.

Arrowhead Day will be held alongside the Park District’s Earth Day Fair, which will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center. The focus of this year’s event will get people thinking about the three Rs: reduce, reuse, and recycle. There will also be a focus on sustainability and creating backyard habitats.

Local organizations, such as the Crawford County Solid Waste District, the Sandusky River Watershed Coalition, and the Crawford County Soil and Water Conservation District, will have displays and other information available. There will also be a native plant sale, a recycled nature craft, and a natural pesticides display. The first 100 visitors will also receive a free tree.

Lowe-Volk Park is located at 2401 Ohio 598, three miles north of U.S. 30. For more information contact the Crawford Park District Office at 419-683-9000. Look for more information on other programs offered by the Crawford Park District by visiting www.crawfordparkdistrict.org.
