GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—An arrest has been made in connection with a suspicious fire that engulfed a vacant home on East Church Street.
The incident occurred on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at around 5:01 p.m., prompting a swift response from both the Galion Fire Department and the Galion Police Department.
Upon arrival, first responders found the residence at 334 East Church Street fully engulfed in flames. The home, which had been unoccupied for an extended period, was ultimately deemed a total loss. Fortunately, while nearby homes sustained some damage, no injuries were reported.
Given the circumstances of the fire, notably the absence of active power at the residence, authorities classified the incident as suspicious, leading to an investigation by the Galion Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit.
As the investigation progressed, detectives were able to gather information that resulted in the identification of a suspect. The Juvenile was apprehended on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and is currently being held at the Crawford County Justice Center, awaiting the filing of formal charges.
