BUCYRUS — More than 550 sixth-grade students and teachers from eight different schools in the Crawford County area had a day full of fun and education with Deputy Martin and the D.A.R.E. program at the fairgrounds.
The schools involved in the program were Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford, Crestline, Galion, Crestline St. Joseph, Sacred Heart, and Wynford. During the event, special guest Corey Jones talked about the importance of making good choices and even showed off his impressive basketball skills.
Deputy Kissling and K9 Nora also gave an awe-inspiring demonstration of the skills of a K9 and their handler. Meanwhile, Louie Katona IV with Katona Kreations ended the day with a spectacular dance.
The success of the program would not have been possible without the support of Galion KFC and Peacock Water. Additionally, the schools’ superintendents, teachers, and Sheriff Scott Kent worked together to ensure that the D.A.R.E. program stays in Crawford schools. The community’s support for the program and the children it serves is also greatly appreciated.
