MARION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Ohio State University at Marion invites regional Girl Scout Brownie troops to participate in “Bugs Are for Brownies” on Sunday, March 22, from 12:00–2:00 p.m. This hands-on exploration of the insect world is for Brownies completing their Bugs badge. Brownies can learn about insects from women who study insects at the Ohio State University.
Led by Ohio State University women who study science, this event encourages curiosity, builds confidence, and opens doors for Brownies to see themselves as future scientists.
“Encouraging young Brownies to explore insects helps build curiosity, confidence, and a sense of belonging in science from an early age. Hands-on experiences and interaction with scientists show youth that science is approachable, exciting, and something they can see themselves doing,” said Tiffiny Rye‑McCurdy, Director of Youth and Community Learning at Ohio State Marion
Troops, families, and community partners are encouraged to share this opportunity widely. Spots fill quickly for this popular annual event, and early registration is recommended.
For more information, please email the Director of Youth and Community Learning at Ohio State Marion, rye-mccurdy.1@osu.edu. Space is limited. No late registration, walkups, or tag‑a‑longs permitted. Cost is $5 per Girl Scout; $2 per adult. Registration is now open at: https://mygs.girlscouts.org/event-detail?id=238-260322-as6600bugbro.
