NEW WASHINGTON — The Gary E. Green Memorial FFA Scholarship Committee is seeking applications for scholarships to be awarded.
Gary E. Green was a person who prioritized and lived his life in order of faith, family and community. Gary was a tireless worker in giving back to his community in a variety of ways. He was a 1972 graduate of Buckeye Central High School and was very active in the Buckeye Central FFA program. He received his State Farmer Degree in 1973 and graduated from Owens Technical College with a degree in Farm Business Management.
Gary served on the Buckeye Central School Board for 16 years, eight of those years as president. Highlights of his board terms included the acquisition of Bloom Twp., the building of the K-12 Buckeye Central building, and most important to him was reestablishing the Agricultural Education/FFA program which had been discontinued. He also served as treasurer of the newly established BC FFA Advisory Committee.
The requirements for these scholarships include the following guidelines: Applicant must be either a current senior Buckeye Central FFA member or a former BC FFA member, currently or planning on being enrolled in a two-or four-year college or university program with preference to those in an agriculturally–related field, and students who have exhibited strong character through teamwork, excellence, integrity, and service in the Buckeye Central FFA program and community.
Applications for both seniors in high school and current college students may be submitted online via the Scholarship Google Form email Mr. Pope at tpope@bcbucks.org to request an application. All applications are to be submitted online and additional materials due to Mr. Pope by Feb. 28 at 3 p.m.
