Malnourished animals were removed from an East Rensselaer home Thursday afternoon.
Bucyrus police Chief Dave Koepke reported that the department had received complaints about malnourished animals at a home located at 617 East Rensselaer St. Humane agents and police officers investigated the complaint and discovered malnourished animals at the residence along with an illegal boa constrictor.
Humane agents removed the animals from the home.
According to Koepke, individuals at the residence obstructed justice and were cited for keeping a boa constrictor. Officers continued to search for other malnourished animals at the home.
Humane Agent Tami Rike was unable to give any additional information as it is an ongoing investigation.
UPDATE: According to a report from the Bucyrus Police Department two residents of 617 E. Rensselaer St. in Bucyrus, 55-year-old Dennis Bell and 53-year-old Margie Bell, were cited for misdemenaors in connection with this incident. Both were issued summons and released with a pending court date. Taken from the home were two malnourished dogs and a boa constrictor.
