BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A Crawford County Grand Jury has indicted Maxwell Anatra for the murder of his parents, Matthew and Lisa Anatra. The statement reads:

The Crawford County Grand Jury has returned an eleven Count Indictment against Maxwell Lindsey Anatra for the murder of his parents Matthew Lindsey Anatra and Lisa Anatra.  The incident allegedly occurred on November 18, 2025 in Crestline, Ohio.  The charges are as follows:

1) Aggravated Murder (Victim #1), an unclassified felony

2) Aggravated Murder (Victim #2), an unclassified felony

3) Murder (Victim #1), an unclassified felony

4) Murder (Victim #2), an unclassified felony

5) Aggravated Burglary, a felony of the first degree

6) Aggravated Burglary, a felony of the first degree – with a gun specification

7) Aggravated Burglary, a felony of the first degree

8) Aggravated Robbery, a felony of the first degree

9) Theft of Firearm – felony of the third degree

10) Theft of a Firearm – felony of the third degree – with a gun specification

11) Tampering with Evidence – felony of the third degree– with a gun specification 

The potential penalties are as follows:

Aggravated Murder – Life in Prison (x2); Fine of up to $25,000.00

Murder – 15 years to Life (x2); Fine of up to $20,000.00

Aggravated Burglary – 3 to 11 years; fine of up to $20,000.00(x3)

Aggravated Robbery – 3 to 16 ½ years; fine of up to $20,000.00

Theft of Firearm – 36 months; fine of up to $10,000.00 (x2)

Tampering – 36 months; fine of up to $10,000.00

Total Potential Maximum Prison: ​2 Life + 49.5 years +108 months (9 years) +3 years 

on gun specifications (TOTAL: 2 Life plus 61.5 years)

At this time, after consultation with the family of the victims, the State of Ohio, through the Crawford County Prosecuting Attorney has not sought the death penalty.  

“I would urge the community to allow the investigation which is ongoing to be completed and allow the judicial system to serve its purpose,” said County Prosecutor Matthew Crall.  The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, the Crestline Police Department, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, the Crawford County Coroner, the Lucas County Coroner’s Office, and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office all have participated in this investigation. 

Maxwell Anatra will be arraigned on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 in Crawford County Common Pleas Court at 1:30 pm.  Visiting Judge Daniel T. Hogan of Franklin County will be sitting by assignment. 

Crawford County Now will be in the courtroom for the proceedings.
