Laferty has never held public office before, but has served on a “variety of committees” for the Village. He is also heavily active the United Methodist Church. His duties in this capacity are winding down, giving him “time to devote” to this new position.

“I’m excited about it,” Laferty said, “It has a lot of possibilities.”

Village Council must still replace Ryan Mahek who resigned earlier this month. Mahek’s resignation is effective Jan. 31.
