Alleged rapist has bond set at $2 million

The alleged victim was 12 years old.

If convicted, Sorensen could face life in prison without the possibility of parole due to the age of the victim.

Sorensen was arraigned Monday on 12 fourth-degree felony charges of pandering obscenity involving a minor. Each charge is punishable by as many as 18 months in prison.

Sorensen also was arraigned on an additional 88 fifth-degree felony charges for illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material or performance. Each charge is punishable by as many as 12 months in prison.

Sorensen, a former Boy Scout leader, was terminated from his position July 2016 prior to the current allegations against him. Sorrensen was terminated from the scout program for inappropriate behavior but there were no sexual allegations made against him.

If convicted, Sorensen could be sentenced to 106 years in prison on the new charges and potentially three life sentences without the possibility of parole.

Sorensen remains in custody of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

Common Pleas Judge Sean Leuthold continued Sorensen’s bond at $2 million.
