ONTARIO, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—RK Real Estate & Development, an affiliate of Rural King Supply, has purchased the property, opening the door for new activity at one of the area’s most prominent vacant retail sites. Richland County Auditor records show the sale included roughly 9.7 acres at 2209 Richland Mall and closed for $2.7 million late last year.
The acquisition adds fresh momentum to the former Richland Mall location, which has long awaited a new chapter. Although detailed plans for the building have not yet been announced, company representatives say they are encouraged by the opportunity and eager to establish a presence in the Ontario community.

Early steps are already underway. According to the Richland County Building Department, a permit application was submitted in December for interior renovations. The filing lists the intended use as mercantile and storage, signaling preparations to bring the space back into active use.
Rural King Supply traces its roots back to 1960, when it opened as a small, family-run farm store in Mattoon, Illinois. Since then, the retailer has expanded steadily and now operates more than 150 locations across 17 states. Stores carry a wide range of merchandise, including farm and livestock supplies, hardware, clothing, and compact RK tractors at select locations.
Known for its value-driven approach, Rural King emphasizes everyday low prices and maintains customer-friendly traditions such as complimentary coffee and popcorn for shoppers.
Company officials say they look forward to serving residents and becoming part of the Ontario area as plans for the newly acquired property continue to take shape. Additional information is expected to be released as decisions are finalized.
