Born on June 27 to mother Aurora and father Calvin, the as-yet-unnamed calf is reported to be in excellent health and is now visible to visitors daily in the Park’s Drive-Thru Safari. The park plans to reveal the calf’s sex in a “gender reveal” announcement on its social media channels in the coming days.

Mountain Bongos are large antelope species indigenous to the montane forests of Kenya. Their distinctive oversized ears aid them in detecting predators. Due to significant habitat loss and poaching, the wild population of Mountain Bongos is estimated at only about 100 individuals, leading to their classification as “critically endangered” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
