The Crawford County Farm Bureau, with support from the Bucyrus and Galion-Crestline Chambers of Commerce and the Crawford County Cattlemen’s Association, will celebrate the role local farmers play in the local, national, and global food systems with the second annual A Taste of Crawford County. The event will be held Thursday, September 4th, 2013, from 6pm to 8pm in the Youth Building on the Crawford County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $10 for Farm Bureau members and $15 for non-members.

This year’s event will feature Galion native Susan Vander Maas and Chef Rasul Welch, proprietors of A Moveable Feast Supperclub, a new farm to table fine dining rebellion. They will prepare a multicourse meal bringing ingredients from some of the area’s finest purveyors prepared as a memorable gourmet and seasonally inspired meal. Additionally they’ll provide gourmet quality cooking demonstrations, while guests engage with area farmers and producers to discuss the role agriculture plays in our community.

“Farmers play a key role in our local economy,” says Brenda Kocher, event chairman. “They are leaders in the community, and they want to produce healthy food to benefit our world. We hope this event will offer a relaxed, fun and delicious evening of conversation and food fellowship.”

A Taste of Crawford County will offer a unique opportunity for the community to gather with farmers, eat delicious, locally produced food, and talk about the role of local farmers in a variety of economies. The event will begin at 6:00 pm with hors d’oeuvres from the pork, beef, dairy and other area commodity groups, followed by A Moveable Feast’s cooking demonstrations and seasonally inspired, gourmet multicourse meal.

Tickets are available at area Chambers of Commerce or by calling 800-327-6055. A portion of the proceeds of the event will be invested in nutrition education programs for area families.
