Tuesday was a historic day for Bucyrus as Jeff Reser was officially sworn in as the city’s new mayor.
Reser, was chosen by the Crawford County Republican Central Committee last week to finish out the term of the late Roger Moore. Judge Sean Leuthold administered the Oath of Office to Reser at 11 a.m. in Council Chambers of Bucyrus City Hall.
Following the opening prayer and a round of applause for Council President Sis Love, who filled in as interim mayor while the position had been vacated, Reser took the oath to serve Bucyrus to the best of his abilities, signed the official document, and began his term as Bucyrus Mayor.
“I want to say thank you for the committee for having the confidence to choose me to lead Bucyrus. It is very humbling, I am very honored, I am touched,” Reser said. “I am glad to be following one of my friends. The circumstances of that following are sad to me, but I would do everything in my power to make sure to follow in his footsteps, and his legacy of community service.”
Reser’s term will conclude on January 1, 2016.
