Each year 4-H clubs of every county participate in community service and have fundraisers. This year the Young Riders 4-H Club decided on two fundraisers – selling Mother’s Day Flowers and Crossroads Candles.

The Mother’s Day Flowers that are being sold include marigolds, snapdragons, hanging baskets, vegetable arrangements, and more. This sale will begin on March 7 and end on March 13. They are being sold at $8 for a half flat, $14 for a full flat, $4 for flower pots, $14 for a vegetable assortment, and $17 for a hanging basket. Anyone that would like to buy any of these flowers can contact a member or adviser for more information. The flowers will be ready for delivery after May 7.

The proceeds will go to the Young Riders 4-H Club barn decorations, tee-shirts, clinics, and more. The Crossroads Candles will be sold at later unknown date. The club also decided on two community services for this year – hay and gift donation to Raemelton Therapeutic Riding Center of Mansfield and volunteering at the Wyandot County Humane Society Horse Rescue.

The donation will consist of items that each club member brings in and will then be given to the Raemelton Riding Center. The club will volunteer at the Wyandot county Humane Society on April 16 to help with the daily care and any extra work that needs to be done. At this meeting demonstrations were given by Grace Jackson on Grooming and Livia Leonhart on Horse’s Hooves.

New members will also watch the horse safety video at our next meeting on March 13. This video is required for all new members to see before they can ride their horse with the club or show at fair. Safety is taken very seriously as members are working with an unpredictable animal ten times their size.
