COLUMBUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) — The Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), a leading merchant and processor of agricultural goods, is set to invest $500 million in the construction of a new soybean processing plant in Wyandot County, Upper Sandusky. The project, announced by State Representative Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky), is expected to create over 100 new jobs.
The new facility will bolster Ohio’s robust soybean industry, which contributes $5.3 billion to the state’s economy and comprises 26,000 soybean farmers. The plant will feature integrated crushing, edible oil refining, and lecithin production and packaging capabilities.
“Having a new soybean production plant will boost the local economy and ensure that Ohio’s soybean industry will continue to provide a quality product for markets around the world,” McClain said.
Construction of the LDC’s soybean processing plant is slated to begin in 2024.
