The Crawford County Fair always boasts some of the best 4-H projects around, and some of them don’t belong in a barn. On Sunday evening, some of those projects were showcased at the annual 4-H Style Revue, a fashion show to spotlight the work that has been done throughout the year.
According Sandy Fankhauser, advisor of the Bucyrus Kilbourne Clovers, each individual who does a sewing project is encouraged to do the style show in order to showcase their efforts.
“They all look great up there and they are just kind of showing off their good handiwork,” Fankhauser said.
There were multiple rounds in the fashion show, but there were even more personalities represented, with pieces that ranged everywhere from sun dresses to shirts to peacock feathers. The participants, who came from a myriad of different 4-H clubs, modeled their projects and had a small biography read that described both their personhood and their sewing process.
In the end, two models were awarded; the best junior fashion revue participant was Bella Walter, who made a sundress, and the senior award went to Hannah Crabtree, who modeled a red dress with heels for an added touch.
When asked how it felt to win, Crabtree said, “It feels pretty good but, you know, everyone’s a winner. I put a lot of time and effort into my project, but there were a few difficulties here in there. I went through it and kept fighting.”
4-H projects of all kinds will be on display throughout the week of the Crawford County Fair.
